General house assistance volunteers - Campbell River

Do you enjoy making a difference in the lives of Island families? Then this position may be for you! General house assistance is needed at Qwalayu House completing light tasks such as cleaning, sanitizing, light meal prep, and welcoming guests to the home.

Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island has invested in the health of Island kids for more than 95 years. Our vision is to ensure all Island families have access to the health care they need.

Q̓ʷalayu House is a home where families from the north Island and surrounding islands can stay while their children receive health care in the region, and where pregnant individuals from remote communities can stay close to hospital as their due date approaches.

Owned and operated by Children’s Health Foundation, Q̓ʷalayu House is located at 565 2nd Avenue on the North Island Hospital – Campbell River campus, behind Yucalta Lodge. The home has 10 bedrooms, a large kitchen, dining, living, quiet rooms, and playrooms; and a backyard where kids can feel at home.

Responsibilities
•	Welcoming of guests and general tidying activities such as:
o	Loading & unloading dishwasher
o	Cleaning & sanitizing counter tops & shared spaces
o	Sweeping & mopping
o	Ensuring families tidy up after use
o	Cleaning dining area after guests depart
o	Potential dinner preparation - dependent on food donations and capacity of house


Skills required
•	Reliable and committed.
•	Able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Time commitment
•	To be discussed during meet & greet
•	Preferable 2 hour shifts approximately 5:30-7:30pm
