Be a Shining Light on the Darkest Night - Volunteer for the 32nd Annual Winter Solstice Lantern Festival on December 21, 2025
This year the Winter Solstice takes place on Sunday, December 21st. Join us to celebrate the return of the sun at the 32nd year of our sweet community lantern festival! This beautiful festival takes place on Granville Island and Yaletown in Vancouver. There will be lantern walks, artist-run workshops, music, dancing, the meditative Labyrinth of Light, and much celebration in the darkness - join us! Volunteers will help us make spaces beautiful, keep the labyrinths glowing, collect donations, assist performers, help folks in the workshops, and so much more. Most roles are focused on the day of the solstice on Sunday, December 21st, where the majority of the shifts are between 5pm and 11pm, though some roles will be available during the day and leading up to the festival as well. Be part of the 32-year long tradition of volunteer activities at our beloved community festival - your help is so appreciated! To volunteer you will be emailed a link to complete an Impact profile, and you’ll then be able to schedule your own shifts and roles on MyImpact. Join our team, learn new skills, and enjoy the darkest night with new-found friends!
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Be a part of local community - this festival, celebrating its 32nd year is well-known and visited year after year by locals to witness the magic of light. Meet new people, learn about lantern making, and enjoy some snacks.
