Volunteer Foster Navigator & Foster Matching Team

Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association (VOKRA) is a volunteer-run cat/kitten rescue organization serving Vancouver and surrounding municipalities in the Lower Mainland since 2000. Our Vancouver headquarters and transition center is where rescued cats are nursed to
health before being placed in one of our 550 volunteer foster homes. Each year, we find forever-homes for 1200+ cats and kittens. We welcome cat lovers, pet owners and animal loving hearts to help support our mission!

Volunteer Foster Navigator
SUMMARY

The Foster Navigator is a supportive guide for foster caregivers and the cats in their care. This volunteer role focuses on encouragement, early support, and clear communication, helping fosters feel confident and connected while ensuring cats continue moving toward adoption.
Foster Navigators work as a collaborative team, sharing responsibility for supporting all fosters and stepping in where needed.

Foster Matching Team (FMT)
SUMMARY

The Foster Matching Team will be responsible for any transfers of cats to foster homes.  This includes initial placement and any transfers, until adopted.
The FMT is responsible for matching cats to foster homes based on the cat’s needs and the foster’s home setup, experience, preferences, and availability.
This team focuses on:  

•	Reviewing foster profiles and availability
•	Matching the right cat to the right home
•	Coordinating placements and transitions between foster homes, when needed
Once a cat is placed, ongoing structured oversight moves to the Foster Navigator Team.

Compassionate, calm, and respectful communication style
Good judgment and attention to detail
Comfortable working as part of a team
Organized and responsive
Basic computer skills, willingness and ability to learn additional skills if necessary

Time Commitment:
- Minimum 6 months
- Approximately 3–6 hours per week, with flexibility and potential increases during high-intake periods
