Volunteer Opportunity at Adanac Park Lodge Make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents in long-term care. Adanac Park Lodge (APL) is a long-term care home for adults aged 19 and older who require 24-hour complex care, primarily related to brain injury, mental health conditions, and/or substance use disorders. For many residents, APL is their permanent home, and volunteers play a vital role in enhancing their quality of life. We’re currently seeking compassionate and reliable volunteers to support our Social-Recreation Programs. Volunteers work alongside staff to engage residents in meaningful activities and social interactions in a relaxed and friendly environment. Volunteer Roles Available: 1. Off-Site Social-Recreation Program Volunteer – Short Outdoor Walking Program Support residents in enjoying outdoor activities and social outings: • Encourage resident participation by visiting Neighborhood Units • Accompany residents on short walks to nearby parks and gardens • Help with setup and cleanup of activity areas • Activities may include picnics, bocce, soccer, kite flying, and visits to Adanac Park or Charles Park 2. Social Outdoor/Indoor & General Store Program Volunteer Combine recreation and retail support in a dynamic role: • Promote activities and events by connecting with residents • Join staff and residents on outdoor walks and park visits • Assist with the General Store by: o Greeting visitors and helping with purchases o Restocking and organizing inventory o Creating seasonal displays o Supporting opening/closing procedures o Maintaining a welcoming and tidy shop environment 3. Social-Recreation Program Volunteer Bring joy and connection through engaging activities: • Visit residents to encourage participation in scheduled programs • Provide one-on-one support during activities as needed (e.g., holding cards) • Assist residents with physical limitations during games and crafts • Help with setup and cleanup of program spaces • Activities may include arts & crafts, trivia, music therapy, bingo, coffee socials, and special events Shifts are scheduled within the hours of Monday to Saturday, from 1pm to 4:30pm
