Event Support

The Vancouver Public Library (VPL) Foundation is looking for people interested in volunteering at their annual Rooftop Remix event taking place at Central Library (350 West Georgia Street) on August 22, 2025. 

Rooftop Remix (www.vplf.ca/rooftop) is not your usual library visit – guests are invited to levels 8 and 9 of Central Library to sip, snack and dance in the Phillips, Hager and North rooftop garden, swap books in the Literary Lounge (featuring new books donated by Raincoast Books), and support VPL through a Fund-A-Need and live auction led by Layne, the Auctionista.

This year we’re coming together to empower local youth, raising vital funds to expand and create free, life-changing programs that help teens from diverse backgrounds thrive. 

Time Commitment:
Friday, August 22, 2025
4pm to 9pm

Available Roles:

Fund-A-Need Assistants
Volunteers in this role are required for approximately 3 hours (4pm to 7pm) and are welcome to stay and enjoy the rest of the event once the Fund-A-Need concludes. In this position volunteers will help gather attendees from different areas of the event space to seating around the stage before the Fund-A-Need starts, and collect donation cards from participants who decide to support during the program. 

Floater 
This position will be responsible for keeping the overall event space clean (clearing glassware from around the venue) and assisting bar staff should they need more supplies from the kitchen. 

Bar
Alcoholic (wine and beer) and non-alcoholic beverages will be served at this event. This position requires a Serving it Right or Special Event Server certificate acquired through Responsible Service BC (https://www.responsibleservicebc.gov.bc.ca/).
