Uplift Senior Wellness Society is a registered non-profit organization offering free, research-backed group fitness classes to older adults across Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. Our weekly sessions include gentle strength training, chair yoga, stretching and more, led by caring volunteers and tailored to accommodate a variety of ability levels. Fitness instructor role description: Fitness instructors must be 14 years of age or older. They demonstrate exercises, correct form, provide modifications for different ability levels, and help create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment. No prior knowledge or experience is required, as training and ongoing support are provided. Volunteers should be comfortable speaking in front of groups, willing to learn proper exercise techniques, and able to commit reliably to scheduled classes. Additional Details & Skills Required
Classes take place bi-weekly on Sundays from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Akali Singh Sikh Society Seniors Centre. Volunteers are expected to commit to one shift bi-weekly, with training provided during scheduled shifts. Although the classes are held at a Sikh temple, a Sikh/Punjabi background is not required. Participants come from diverse backgrounds and generally understand English, and everyone is welcome to volunteer.
