Chief Development Officer (CDO)

We are seeking an experienced and passionate individual to serve as the Chief Development Officer (CDO) at The Vancouver Helpers. The CDO will play a critical role in securing and managing the financial resources necessary to support the organization's programs and growth. This individual will oversee fundraising efforts, build and maintain relationships with donors, create and organize fundraising events, apply for grants, and track the chapter’s spending to ensure financial sustainability. Responsibilities: Donor Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential donors. This includes identifying prospective donors, reaching out to them, and ensuring they are engaged and motivated to support The Vancouver Helpers. Fundraising Events: Plan, organize, and execute fundraising events to generate revenue for the chapter. Work with the executive team to create event strategies, secure sponsors, and coordinate logistics. Grant Applications: Research, identify, and apply for relevant grants that align with The Vancouver Helpers’ mission. Ensure all grant applications are completed on time, and follow up with granting organizations to ensure ongoing funding opportunities. Financial Tracking: Track and manage the chapter’s spending and fundraising income. Ensure proper budgeting and reporting of all funds to maintain financial transparency and accountability. Collaboration: Work closely with the Executive Director and other team members to ensure fundraising goals are aligned with the organization’s overall mission and strategic plan. Role Requirements: You are still welcome to apply for the role if you do not meet all the role requirements. Proven experience in fundraising, donor relations, or development preferred Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to engage and inspire potential donors. Experience organizing events and managing budgets. Knowledge of grant writing and the ability to research and apply for grants. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Financial literacy, including budgeting and tracking expenditures. Passion for education and a commitment to The Vancouver Helpers’ mission. This is a volunteer position, with an expected commitment of 2-3 hours per week. All work is conducted remotely, offering flexibility to work from home.
