Call for Board Candidates—Directors at Large

At The Kettle Society we believe that stigma and discrimination continue to be a barrier to social inclusion and access to the right care. We strive to advocate for all communities who have increased barriers to mental health care and housing. The Kettle Society is looking for two leaders from Black, Indigenous and people of colour communities who are passionate about mental health matters and related issues to join its Board starting June 2024. Call for candidates closes on May 15, 2024.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The Kettle is looking to expand its Board of Directors and diversify the voices and perspectives of its membership to enhance our alignment to the lived realities of the Kettle’s clientele. You are a member of a community of people, such as Indigenous, or people of colour. You are a generative thinker and thoughtful in carrying out your oversight duties. Your experience, energy, insights, and time commitment will be invaluable in ensuring that The Kettle Society builds firmly on its nearly 50 years as a highly respected mental health support service and partner of choice for governments, funders, and all those who care about mental health.

We are looking for individuals ready to start as directors at large as The Kettle undertakes a new strategic plan and to assume increasing responsibility within the first year. The ideal candidates have lived experience with mental illness or supporting those living with mental illness; you have a background working in the mental health field, housing, outreach or social services; OR, you have strong ties to the neighbourhood the Kettle Drop In and Recovery Cafe draw from in the Grandview Woodlands area.

As a director on The Kettle Society’s policy governance board, you will work with diversely skilled colleagues to govern the delivery of services and influence organizational direction toward empowering those living with mental illness, substance use, poverty, and homelessness to live more fully in the broader community.
