At Kaleidoscope, we believe in the power of peer support to change lives. We know that mental health challenges can feel isolating—but we also know that healing begins with connection.

Kaleidoscope started in 2010 as a student-led support group at UBC, offering a space for people to speak openly about their mental health without fear of judgment. Since then, we’ve grown into a community-led nonprofit offering free, peer-facilitated support groups and one-to-one support across British Columbia and beyond. Our sessions are held over Zoom, creating accessible, safe(r) spaces for people to listen, share, and feel less alone.

We’re not a clinical service. We’re something different—and just as vital. All of our peer supporters have lived or living experience of mental health concerns, and we believe this experience is a strength. We use a mutual aid model, where everyone has something to offer and something to gain.

Our mission is simple: to hold space for people to be heard, respected, and supported—no matter where they’re at in their mental health journey. Our vision is a world where community is the foundation of mental wellness. We believe mental wellness grows through connection and care—not through fear, blame, or silence.

By volunteering with us, you’re not just giving back—you’re joining a movement. Whether you’re co-facilitating a support group, helping with outreach, or supporting our operations, you’ll be part of a team that centers empathy, inclusion, and lived experience. Together, we’re building a peer-powered future for mental health care—one conversation at a time.
