Dishwasher Volunteer – Help Keep Our Community Kitchen Running!

1420 West 12th Avenue, Vancouver, BC, V6H 1M8 [map]
2-2 hours / weekly
-
Join our team at South Granville Seniors Centre and help keep our community kitchen running smoothly! We are looking for a reliable and friendly volunteer to help with dishwashing after our community meals and programs.

As a dishwasher volunteer, you will help load and unload the commercial dishwasher, rinse and organize dishes, cups, utensils, and kitchen equipment, and keep the dishwashing area clean and organized. All dishes are washed using our dishwasher, so you will not be washing everything by hand.

You will not be working alone. You will always be part of the kitchen team, with other staff and volunteers nearby to provide support and guidance.

Your help allows our kitchen team to focus on preparing and serving meals to our seniors and community members.

This is a great opportunity to meet people, be part of a welcoming community, and make a meaningful difference through a simple but very important role.

Typical shift: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Location: South Granville Seniors Centre, Vancouver
Commitment: Ongoing; we appreciate volunteers who can commit regularly for at least 3 months.

No previous kitchen or dishwashing experience is required. We will provide an orientation and show you everything you need to know.

We are looking for someone who is dependable, comfortable working in a busy community kitchen, and willing to work as part of a team.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Gain practical experience working in a community kitchen while developing teamwork, communication, organization, and time-management skills. You will also have the opportunity to meet new people, connect with older adults in the community, and contribute to a welcoming environment at our Seniors Centre.
