Society for the Museum of Original Costume (SMOC)

The Society for the Museum of Original Costume (SMOC) was founded in 1992 to collect historic fashion, traditional costume and textiles to create a museum of historic fashion and fabric arts. From its vast collection of thousands of artifacts, SMOC provides reference materials and resources for the media and other museums. As part of its outreach program, the Society presents educational programs about the history of fashion to the general public as well as to trade schools, colleges, universities, libraries, and museums.
