Realwheels Theatre is seeking a Treasurer for our Board of Directors! The Treasurer plays a vital role in monitoring the organization’s financial health and ensuring transparency. Realwheels wants to strengthen our ability to combine theatrical excellence with a commitment to D/disability representation. If you’re passionate about the performing arts, or have lived experience of D/disability (or both!) we want to hear from you. Realwheels strongly values diversity and fosters an equitable and inclusive work and volunteer environment. Our volunteer board currently consists of members from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences, we welcome all interested individuals to apply. We particularly encourage applications from members of equity-seeking or under-represented groups. As a D/disability-led company, we strongly encourage those who live with or self-identify with disability to let us know of your access needs. COMMITMENT: Board members typically serve a three-year term. The board meets approximately bi-monthly and is actively engaged in articulating and supporting the company’s strategic planning. Beyond board meetings, members are occasionally asked to sit on board committees and participate in fundraising initiatives. The Treasurer works with our staff to monitor the organization’s financial health, ensure compliance and transparency, and prepare financial reports to update the board during board meetings. According to the Societies Act, all board members must reside in B.C. It is also important for members to be able to attend in-person RW meetings and events in Vancouver, so we will be prioritizing applications from those living in the Lower Mainland. SOME QUALITIES WE’RE LOOKING FOR: - Financial Expertise: A strong understanding of accounting principles, budgeting, and financial reporting is crucial. Professional experience in accounting or financial management is preferred. - Integrity and Trustworthiness - Attention to Detail: Precision in managing financial records and compliance with regulations is essential - Willingness to roll up your sleeves, join the team, and help us reach our objectives; and - Experience or familiarity with the Vancouver theatre industry, non-profit boards, art boards, the BC Societies Act, and/or the D/disability community (assets) HOW TO APPLY: Please fill out our Expression of Interest form and send your CV in Word format to board@realwheels.ca with “Application: Board Candidate” in the subject line.
