Hospital Library Cart Volunteer

4 month term
Our Hospital Library Cart Volunteers provide support and companionship while offering a free library service to patients and visitors at the hospital. Shift times are Monday-Sunday 10am-12pm or 2pm-4pm but there can be some flexibility around these times.

Duties include: 
         •  Sort donated books/magazines: shelf and organize new items.
         •  Prepare cart with adequate magazines/books in a neat and orderly manner.
         •  Make rounds to assigned patient care areas offering patients books/magazines as required.
         •  Provide Volunteer Resources with program and route updates.
        •  Interact with patients and families in their rooms and lounge.

Role requirements:
         •  Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (7 days post dose 2) and able to wear a medical face mask while volunteering on site.
         •   Must be 18 years of age or older.
         •  Able to assist patients/visitors who have physical and/or cognitive challenges.
         •  Physically capable of assisting patients and visitors in wheelchairs and carrying out the physical tasks as required.
         •  Able to communicate well in verbal and written English.
         •  Friendly, reliable, patient and respectful.
         •  Able to follow direction and enjoy teamwork.
         •  Must be able to be flexible and adaptable in a changing environment.
         •  Interest in healthcare and a desire to help others.
