Gift Shop Volunteer Associate (St. Paul's Hospital)

At St. Paul's Hospital gift shop, our goal is to run an inclusive and community driven operation; and to raise funds in support of patients, clients and families served by St. Paul's Hospital.

Our gift shop volunteers help provide friendly support and service to patients, visitors and staff visiting the shop. You can gain valuable experience in a fast paced healthcare environment and make a difference.

Shift commitment is once a week for 3 hours. Shift time options are: Mondays-Fridays: 10am-1pm; 12pm-3pm; 2pm-6:30pm.

Duties include: 
         •  Greet and assist customers, patients, visitors and staff.
         •  Support, listen and interact with patients visiting the shop.
         •  Handle a variety of cash and debit/visa sales with patients, visitors and staff.
         •  Stock shelves, organize and tidy shop.
         • Operate cash register (Visa/MC, Direct Payment, cash sales)

Role requirements:
         • Reliable, committed, friendly and respectful.
         • Able to communicate well in verbal and written English.
         •  Able to follow direction, work independently and enjoy teamwork.
         •  Interest in healthcare and a desire to help others.
         •  Cash-handling and customer service experience is beneficial.
         •  Able to assist patients/visitors who have physical and/or cognitive challenges.
         •  Physically capable of assisting patients and carrying out the physical tasks of the role and the shop as required.
