Health Care Recreation Activity Volunteers - Mahjong

2-2 hours / weekly

minimum 4 month commitment

This position involves volunteers helping with weekly Mahjong games at a Long Term Care home by portering wheelchair bound elders to and from the activity space and assisting with game play. Volunteers under the direction of a Rehab Assistant, will help with the set up and take down of the mahjong table, socializing with residents and generally assist the residents with the playing of the game.

Role requirements:
-Must be provide vaccination status for COVID-19 
-Able to assist elders who have physical and/or cognitive challenges.
- Be able to play Mahjong and speak Cantonese (preferred) or Mandarin is required.  
-Physically capable of pushing elders in wheelchairs and carrying out physical tasks as required.
-Able to communicate well in verbal and written English.
-Friendly, reliable, patient and respectful.
-Able to follow direction and enjoy teamwork.
-Willingness to listen, learn and develop effective ways to interact with elders.
-Sincere interest in the social needs elders.
-Want to have fun!
