Health Care Recreation Activity Volunteers

These positions involve volunteers helping with the various social and recreational activities at a long term care home. Volunteers under the direction of a Rehab Assistant, will help with the set up and take down of the activities, portering wheelchair bound elders to and from the activity space, socializing with residents and generally assist the residents with the playing of the games and other activities. Activities may include but not limited to bingo, bowling, fitness classes, arts and crafts, and outings. 

Role requirements:
-Must provide vaccination status for COVID-19
-Able to assist elders who have physical and/or cognitive challenges.
-Physically capable of pushing elders in wheelchairs and carrying out physical tasks as required.
-Able to communicate well in verbal and written English.
-Friendly, reliable, patient and respectful.
-Able to follow direction and enjoy teamwork.
-Willingness to listen, learn and develop effective ways to interact with elders.
-Sincere interest in the social needs elders.
-Want to have fun!
