Cantonese Speaking Music Therapy Program Volunteer

Music Therapy volunteers invite and porter elderly residents to the activity room and then assist the Music Therapist with the running of the program. Duties include handing out sheet music and instruments, and joining in on the fun. Volunteers do not have to be able to read music or to play an instrument but an interest in music is an asset. In this role we are looking for someone who can speak Cantonese so they can help facilitate with our Chinese Music Group.

Certification or Education Required
Able to assist elders who have physical and/or cognitive challenges.
Physically capable of pushing elders in wheelchairs and carrying out physical tasks as required. Able to communicate well in verbal and written English. 
Friendly, reliable, patient and respectful. 
Able to follow direction and enjoy teamwork. 
Willingness to listen, learn and develop effective ways to interact with elders. 
Sincere interest in the social needs elders. 
An interest and knowledge of music would be useful.
