This is accomplished through: Project Summary The Burnside Gorge Community Association I (BGCA) s undertaking an awareness and fundraising campaign through holding two events (in Winter and Summer) to create greater visibility for the Burnside Gorge Community Centre strengthen relationships with local businesses and residents, and generate long-term program sponsorship. This two-phase initiative will support BGCA’s mission to provide inclusive, community-based services to children, youth, and families across the capital region. Phase 1 focuses on increasing the profile of the Centre within the Burnside Gorge neighbourhood, home to over 1,200 businesses and a diverse residential population. Many community members are unaware of the breadth of BGCA’s programs and services. To address this, the project will develop an outreach package(s)—potentially tailored for businesses and residents—to educate different stakeholders about BGCA’s impact and invite financial and volunteer support. This phase includes a Business Mixer hosted at a local venue, designed to foster engagement and sponsorship opportunities. Phase 2 explores the feasibility of hosting a small-scale fundraising in form of a festival at the Centre in either summer or fall of 2026 and planning for the event. The event aims to raise funds and community awareness through beverage and food vendor participation, and ticketed sampling. Key decisions around format (indoor vs. outdoor), timing, licensing, and vendor coordination will require research, relationship-building, and logistical planning.
