Project Manager - Sibling Support Review - Canuck Place

Project Management Volunteers (PMV) Sponsored Project This is a PMV sponsored project. The Project Manager will enter into a 3-way partnership between the Client organization, the Project Manager, and PMV. This will include additional responsibilities, benefits and support, for the Project Manager. Client Organization Overview Canuck Place Children’s Hospice is British Columbia and the Yukon’s pediatric palliative care program. Canuck Place operates two physical hospice locations as well as provides care in community, hospitals and homes across the province. We provide care to over 900 families from the time of diagnosis of life limiting illness for their child and into bereavement. Our care includes advanced care planning, medical respite, symptom management, end of life, psychosocial-spiritual care and wholistic family care- all aimed at supporting children and families in living, dying and grieving Organization Purpose We care for children’s finite days and the families who love them. Project Summary The purpose of this project is to review and make recommendations regarding how Canuck Place provides care specifically for siblings. Our care is focused on the wellbeing of the entire family, including siblings. We recognize that as our programs have grown, we have an increased need to consider how we understand the unique sibling experience and how we care for siblings. Project Objectives • Work with stakeholders to assess current sibling support • Review with staff to understand sibling needs • Develop recommendations for changes and improvement to enhance sibling care (may include policy revisions, process development, program enhancement, communication etc. Required Qualifications • Minimum of three years’ project management experience, preferably with nonprofit or volunteer-driven organizations. • Ability to oversee a project in a flexible and adaptive manner. • Experience in sensitive areas of social services sector is preferred. Scope of Work • Project planning and design- aim is to be co-developed with a sibling • Current State Assessment- understanding how we currently care for siblings, including reviewing collated themes, policies, documentation, responsibilities and programs • Stakeholder engagement- engage with families and siblings, staff, volunteers to better understand living experiences, what is working well, unmet needs and barriers to support • Needs and gap analysis- synthesize findings • Recommendation for development and implementation planning Accountability The PM volunteer is responsible to have end-to-end accountability on project deliverables, report to : Kathryn Wozny, Director of Family Support Services Note: • Applications without a cover letter will not be considered. • Organization may proceed with interviewing and engaging applicants before the application deadline.
