Education Assistant - After School Care Program

We are looking for individuals passionate about childcare to commit to supporting the program 2-3 times a week for 3 months or longer in our after school portion of the program to the following terms: September to December, January to March, April to June. 

This opportunity will be perfect for any prospective Education Assistant students looking to fulfill their volunteer experience hours through the three month placement or anyone passionate about childcare.

Responsibilities: 
This role involves walking with a group of children for approximately 1.5 km, beginning at Sir Wilfrid Laurier Elementary and ending at Marpole Oakridge Family Place. 
• Creative and passionate about play.
• Provide an active, healthy, safe and stimulating environment for children ages 5 – 12 years
old to develop social skills and general well-being.
• Accompany children from Sir Wilfrid Laurier Elementary School to Marpole Oakridge Family Place alongside program staff.
• Walk long distances as a group and enforce safety measures.
• The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program staff.
• Perform duties with integrity and sound judgement.
• Flexible and able to quickly adapt to the group's evolving needs and changing environment throughout the program.

Terms and Conditions:
- Available 2-3x a week Monday to Friday (2:50pm-6pm)
- Commitment to 3 months or longer: September to December, January to March, April to June
- Complete a volunteer application form
- Successful clearance from the criminal record check with vulnerable sector search
- Provide 2 references
- Completion of forms according to childcare licensing regulations
