Walking Friendly Visitor

1-2 hours / weekly
1 year
My name is Charles Leibovitch, and I am the peer support services coordinator for a community seniors organization called Jewish Seniors Alliance of Greater Vancouver.
We currently provide peer support and friendly visiting/friendly phone calls to over 100 clients. We are receiving an increasing demand for volunteers to go out for a walk on a weekly or regular basis with our seniors.

Many seniors would benefit having students visit with them and go for walks. Due to the impact of COVID many seniors experienced increased anxiety, isolation and loneliness. With the coming of Spring and the soon relaxation of restrictions our seniors would greatly benefit from your students going out for walks with them.

The training consists of five sessions all on zoom and the sixth session in person.

Next training starting Tuesday, March 19 and continuing on Thursday, March 21, from 5 pm- 8 pm on zoom for three consecutive Tuesdays and three consecutive Thursdays
Certification or Education Required

Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
