Walking Friendly Visitor
1-2 hours
/ weekly
1 year
My name is Charles Leibovitch, and I am the peer support services coordinator for a community seniors organization called Jewish Seniors Alliance of British Columbia. We currently provide peer support and friendly visiting/friendly phone calls to over 170 clients. We are receiving an increasing demand for volunteers to go out for a walk on a weekly or regular basis with our seniors. Many seniors would benefit having students visit with them and go for walks. Due to the impact of COVID many seniors experienced increased anxiety, isolation and loneliness. With the coming of Spring and the soon relaxation of restrictions, our seniors would greatly benefit from your students going out for walks with them. Volunteers should live in Vancouver to be able to visit seniors in those location. Thank you The training consists of six sessions, on Mondays and Wednesdays. five on zoom and the sixth session in person Next training starting Wednesday, October 15, 2025 and continuing for three Mondays and two Wednesdays, 530pm-830pm on Zoom.
