Walking Friendly Visitor Training Starting on Monday,January 12, 2026 on Zoom 530 pm- 830 pm

1-2 hours / weekly
1 year
My name is Charles Leibovitch, and I am the peer support services coordinator for a community seniors organization called Jewish Seniors Alliance of Greater Vancouver.
We currently provide peer support and friendly visiting/friendly phone calls to over 100 clients. We are receiving an increasing demand for volunteers to go out for a walk on a weekly or regular basis with our seniors.

Many seniors would benefit having students visit with them and go for walks. Due to the impact of COVID many seniors experienced increased anxiety, isolation and loneliness. Our seniors would greatly benefit from your students going out for walks with them.

Volunteers should live in Vancouver or Burnaby to be able to visit seniors in those locations. Thank you

The training consists of five sessions all on Zoom and the sixth session in person.

Next training starting Monday, January 12, 2026 and continuing on January 14,19,21,26 all on Zoom and in person on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, 530 pm- 830 pm.

Upon completion of the training you will get a certificate in friendly visiting and then you will be matched with a senior to visit them weekly.
