Volunteer Meals on Wheels Courier - Vancouver

Join Meals on Wheels and make a real difference, one delivery at a time. We are looking for drivers to deliver our meals from our kitchen in East Vancouver to a depot of their choice in within the Vancouver area. These meals are then given to volunteer drivers who deliver them straight to the doors of isolated and homebound seniors, helping them stay nourished and connected to their community. We urgently need a volunteer courier for Thursday mornings.

Description
Care BC is looking for Kitchen and Meal Courier Volunteers to help pick up meals from our kitchen and deliver them to a depot of their choice within the Vancouver area. You may also be asked by the kitchen dispatcher to help in the kitchen by stamping sealed meals or packing the meals into delivery bags..

Volunteer Impact:
Our dedicated volunteer team delivers 240 meals a day, Monday – Friday! 
Last year, we delivered over 60,000 meals serving over 650 vulnerable seniors and homebound neighbors. 

As a Kitchen Meal Courier, you are a vital link helping vulnerable seniors remain nourished and safe in their own homes.

What does it take to be a Meals on Wheels Volunteer?
    •	Only 2 hours per week, from 9:30am-11:30am
    •	Or less as a spare volunteer
    •	Making deliveries from East Vancouver to a depot of your choice in the Vancouver area 
    •	Supporting dispatchers with needed tasks in the kitchen

Qualifications:
    •	Strong Communication skills
    •	Patient and reliable

Other Requirements:
    •	18 years of age or older (volunteers under 18 can participate if accompanied by a guardian). 
    •	A cleared criminal record check. (CareBC can assist with this at no cost)
    •	Willing to provide two references.
    •	Proof of double COVID -19 vaccination (Vancouver Coastal Health recognizes Care BC as a health services provider because we support vulnerable clients).
    •	Valid driver license and auto insurance (for car-based volunteers only).
