Great Lakes Networking Society of BC (GLBC)

Our Story
At the Great Lakes Networking Society of BC, we believe in the power of community to drive change. Founded in 2010, our mission is to foster justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion by empowering underserved communities through arts, culture, sports, education, and environmental stewardship. Rooted in the rich cultural heritage of the Great Lakes region of Africa, we are a Black-led, community-focused nonprofit that works to bridge gaps, amplify voices, and create opportunities for everyone.

Our work is centered on building connections, promoting belonging, and addressing systemic challenges faced by equity-deserving groups, particularly Black, Indigenous, marginalized, and interfaith minority communities in the Greater Vancouver and beyond. From organizing annual festivals that celebrate cultural diversity to addressing social issues like food insecurity, youth mentorship, and mental health advocacy, homelessness, poverty, drug abuse, etc., committed to creating spaces/paltforms where everyone thrives.
