Grandview Woodland Community Seed Library is a volunteer-run community project that offers access free seeds, encourages seed saving, and provides opportunities to learn how to grow food and save seeds.

he Grandview Woodland Community Seed Library offers community members the opportunity to “check out” seeds to grow at home. Members plant these seeds, care for the plants, and let some go to seed. These seeds can be collected, dried, and returned to the library for use in following years.

Seed libraries hold a collection of seeds for its members and offer an easy means for people to access seeds for free or at low cost. They can promote food security by encouraging people to keep and exchange seeds from locally grown, open-pollinated plants, while also increasing community engagement with local food systems and overall level of self-sufficiency.
