Do You Want to Develop Social Skills While Making a Difference? This volunteer opportunity is ideal for individuals who want to build confidence, communication, and interpersonal skills while supporting senior citizens in a senior centre Volunteers provide meaningful companionship through conversation, active listening, poetry and simple writing. No poetry or writing experience is required. The main focus of this role is to preserve stories, strengthen intergenerational connections, and combat dementia What You’ll Do: Engage seniors in friendly conversation and active listening Spend one-on-one or small-group time providing companionship Encourage social interaction and emotional expression Use poetry or creative prompts as conversation starters Help create a warm, respectful, and welcoming environment Who This Is For: No prior volunteer experience required Poetry or writing skills are optional Students and individuals looking to develop social and communication skills Patient, empathetic, and open-minded people High School Students
