The German-Canadian Care Home is a 104-bed, licensed, publicly funded care home located in Vancouver. At present, the Home operates across two temporary locations: 500 West 57th Avenue and 415 West Pender Street (2nd Floor).

We provide care for seniors with complex physical and/or mental health needs. For over 50 years, our Home has been dedicated to delivering compassionate, resident-centered care, guided by the Eden Alternative philosophy.

Our strengths include a team of long-term, experienced staff, as well as a comprehensive range of in-house services such as rehabilitation, recreation, music therapy, art therapy, and spiritual care.

The Home has been continuously accredited by Accreditation Canada since 1979 and achieved the highest distinction, “Accredited with Exemplary Standing,” in both 2012 and 2016.

The German-Canadian Benevolent Society of BC operates and supports the Home through the dedication of volunteers, along with donations and fundraising initiatives that enhance the quality of life for our residents. The Society is also actively fundraising toward its long-term goal of redeveloping the care home.

Bingo
Peer Support
Volunteers are wanted to help support residents in our bingo program, which happens every Thursdays at 3:15 PM

Fitness
Every Tuesdays at 1:15 volunteers will assist in active games such like bowling, balloon volley ball, basket ball, curling, shuffle board etc.

Volunteers will have opportunities to build relationships with elders in our community. Our residents are of different cultures and backgrounds with lots of memories, history and wisdom to share.

Fitness
Volunteers will support our residents physical wellbeing via exercises, such as range of motion, walking, ball games, sports and recreation. Volunteer will work alongside rehab or recreation staff.
