community farm volunteer
We are an operating urban farm in South Vancouver on site of a long term care facility and other health programs. We are 15 minute walk from Langara and 49th Station, between Oak and Cambie Streets, just off West 57th Ave. Come be part of an operating urban farm that aims to share and teach the community about ecological growing practices and growing food and flowers. Seeking volunteers for minimum 2 hour weeding shifts, often combined with a break and social learning circle.
Additional Details & Skills Required
Farm orientation and education provided. Most tasks involve physical labour and body movements like crouching, pulling, bending. It can be slow and gentle as you need - but work needs to get done :-) Field paths are narrow and uneven. Work parties often followed by social circles outside at the farm site. If you are interested in helping but have mobility issues, let us know and we'll see if there's a task you can help with. Thanks for considering us!
