Urban Farm volunteer
Come be part of an operating urban farm that aims to share and teach the community about ecological growing practices (pesticide and chemical fertilizer free) and growing food and flowers. Seeking committed volunteers for weekly 4-6 hour shifts including lunch break and lots of learning. Ideally you are able to commit for at least 3 months. Our Volunteer Learning Program runs from March-October. We are an operating farm in South Vancouver on the site of a long term care facility and other health programs. We are 15 minute walk from Langara and 49th Station, between Oak and Cambie Streets, just off West 57th Ave. No experience necessary, just a willingness to do physical outdoor work, rain or shine. Criminal record check required (we'll tell you how). Additional Details & Skills Required
Farm orientation and education provided. Most tasks involve physical labour and body movements like crouching, pulling, bending. It can be slow and gentle as you need - but work needs to get done :-) Field paths are narrow and uneven. Work parties often followed by social circles outside at the farm site.
