Peer Mentors work alongside experienced EYA staff to run our land-based education programs for high school-aged youth in Strathcona Community Gardens and Renfrew Ravine. You bring your experience and passion, and we provide skill-building workshops, one-on-one mentorship with an EYA educator, and opportunities to practice facilitation and group leadership. As a Peer Mentor, you will gain and develop skills in: 
Group facilitation and management
Land-based education & lesson planning
Youth work, including strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches
Decolonizing practices & Indigenous ways of knowing
Teamwork and communication
Knowledge of native plants and wildlife
Dates: May 30 - Aug 14, 2026

This program consists of two parts:

Skill-building workshops: Training weekend May 30th & 31st, then in person weekly Monday evening sessions from 5:30pm - 8:00 pm (June 8, June 15, June 22, June 29, July 6, July 13, July 20, July 27, Aug 3, Aug 10)  (there will be one online session)
Peer Mentoring: Weekly program support, 1 day/week from 10 AM - 3 PM (days vary according to the program you are supporting; learn more about the programs at https://eya.ca/program/nature-stewards/).
This program is open to youth ages 18 - 25 who identify as BIPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+, and/or living with a disability. 
Meals and bus tickets are offered on program days, and a living stipend is provided. This stipend will be sent upon program completion via e-transfer and grocery gift card. 

Applications will be open until May 19th or until filled, so please apply early - the earlier we receive your application the better!

EYA office (1245 Glen Dr, Vancouver),
and occasionally remote.
