Facilitate a fun and casual Kids Dance Class this summer!

573 E. Hastings St, Vancouver, BC, V6A 1P9 [map]
3-4 hours / weekly
-
The DTES Neighbourhood House is looking for a volunteer to facilitate a fun and casual kids dance class this summer from July 25-August 29th, on Fridays from 3-6:30pm. The schedule is flexible in that we do not necessarily need you to facilitate the program on all of the 6 dates, but that would be ideal if possible. If you have experience with various forms of dance and would like to teach the kids, or if you just happy to put some music on and lead the kids in a more casual dance environment—we are open to either! We can provide a stipend/honorarium ($) for this role (see below).

The grassroots, secular DTES Neighbourhood House (DTESNH) aims to provide a dignified welcoming space for our neighbours to participate in various community inspired programs, as well as leadership, social, and recreational opportunities.

Kids in Motion is a brand new program that the DTES Neighbourhood House is running this summer to replace our School’s Out programs which run throughout the school year. The program consists of 3 activities which are run on different days of the week—yoga, soccer and dance. Children attending the program will be registered with staff ahead of time, and will range from 6-12 years old. Staff will be there to support the volunteer facilitator and help wherever needed. Snacks will be provided at all activities.

VOLUNTEER DUTIES:
Come to the DTES Neighbourhood House and facilitate a kids dance class for ages 6-12. If you have particular ideas for structuring the classes, or particular games/activities to do we can support you with planning to make it happen! If you are able to, we would appreciate if you are able to help with some other tasks such as preparing the space for the class, cleaning up after, and/or helping staff to prepare snacks before the class starts.

STIPEND/HONORARIA:
We can provide $30 to the volunteer facilitator each week that they are able to come in and lead the kids activities. This is not employment income, and is not an hourly wage, but merely a small token of our appreciation for the extra responsibilities that the volunteer facilitator will be taking on.
