Volunteer @ Robson Square - Concession, Bag Check, Donations

Robson Square Summer Dance Series welcomes everyone to free dancing, lessons, and shows Friday nights, under the domes at Robson and Howe.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the 2025 Robson Square Summer Dance Series! Robson has been running since 1979 with the support from volunteers like you. This summer we are running the following nine Friday nights.

Robson Square - Ice Rink (there is no ice during the summer)
800 Robson Street (between Howe and Hornby), Vancouver
One level below the street

July 4, 11, 18, 25
August 1, 8, 15, 22, 29

Nightly Schedule

6.15 - Setup Begins - Committee and Volunteers arrive
7.00 - Event Starts - Beginner Lesson for ~40 minutes
8.00 - Performance for ~20 minutes
8.20 to 9 - Social Dancing
9.00 - Performance (only on select Fridays)
9.20 to 10.30 - Social Dancing
10.30 - Last song
10.15 to 11 - Takedown
11pm - Everyone depart

Volunteer Positions

Concession - Shift Options: 6:45-8:30  &  8:30-9:45  &  9:45-10:45
Volunteers will sell beverages. There will be bottled water and gatorade for sale. Some attendees may need assistance with the Bag Check. Often there will be multiple volunteers, so it is possible to go out for a dance or a break during the shift. Please consider volunteering for the 9:45-10:45 shift.

Donation Assistant  8:00  &  9:00 pm
Volunteers will check-in at 7:50 & 8:50 with our Money Manager and will be provided with a route to receive the donations from the guests during the performance breaks at 8:10 & 9:10. The Donation Assistants do not have to directly ask people for donations, the MC will make an announcement.

Set Up  6:15-7:00  &  Take Down 10:30-11
Volunteers are needed to help move supplies from a nearby storage room and to set up equipment needed for the event. This includes posting signs, putting up tents, displaying programmes, setting up the bag check and drink concession area, and setting up music equipment.
