British Columbia Junior Chess Association

We are a non-profit organization of high school students with an initiative of bringing together high school chess players through tournaments and matches, but also introduce the beauty of chess to elementary school students as well.
Unfortunately, chess can be a daunting game to take up, with the wrong basics taught at such a young age. BCJCA looks forward to challenging that status quo, so that chess could be so much more than just a board game, but rather, a way of meaningful connection.
We are not just looking for talented chess players and teachers, but more importantly, high school students who share the same mission of sharing the same passion that brought them into chess as elementary school students.
BCJCA already runs many after school chess programs for students in elementary schools: - - Anderson Elementary with MacNeill Secondary
- Gilpin Elementary with Burnaby Central Secondary
- Morley Elementary with Burnaby Central Secondary
- Taylor Park Elementary with Burnaby South Secondary
- Chartwell Elementary with Sentinel Secondary
There is still so much more room for opportunity and growth, and we hope to find high school students who share the common goal of passing the torch to the next generation.
