RBC Race for the Kids 2025 - Victoria (Elk/Beaver Lake Provincial Park)
Be Mighty. Make an Impact. As an RBC Race for the Kids volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in supporting one of BC’s most inspiring community events — all in support of BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. Whether you’re helping set up the festival site, cheering on racers, or handing out medals, no role is too small to make us mighty. Volunteers are the heart of this event, creating a safe, welcoming, and fun experience for participants, families, and supporters. Volunteers of all ages are welcome! Children 16 and under must have parental/guardian consent and be directly supervised by their adult at all times. All volunteers will be expected to uphold BC Children’s Hospital Foundation’s values and commit to creating a safe and inclusive environment. VOLUNTEER ROLES + TIMES REGISTRATION & PACKAGE PICK UP TO FESTIVAL ZONE (7:00am-11:00am) • Support on-the-spot registration or package pick-up • Direct participants toward the start line or festival zone • Provide general info to participants and spectators • Keep the registration area organized and flowing ROUTE MARSHALL & CHEER TO FESTIVAL ZONE (8:00am – 11:30pm) • Direct racers along the course and ensure they stay on track • Monitor intersections and notify staff of any safety issues • Cheer participants on with energy and encouragement • Help maintain a fun, safe, and enthusiastic environment • Guide participants into the festival zone post-race WATER STATIONS (8:00am-11:30pm) • Set up tables, cups, and water jugs • Fill and distribute cups to runners • Keep the area clean and safe • Cheer on participants as they pass START & FINISH LINE ASSISTANT MEDAL HANDOUT (7:00am_12:00pm) • Guide participants into start line corrals • Keep energy high as participants begin their race • Welcome finishers with cheers and congratulations • Distribute medals and water at the finish line • Assist with crowd control and flow in both areas PARKING ATTENDANTS 7:00am-12:00pm) • Direct vehicles to appropriate parking zones • Manage flow of traffic in and out of the site • Provide directions and answer questions from drivers • Ensure pedestrian safety in parking areas SITE SET UP, SUPPORT AND TEAR DOWN (7:00am – 12:00pm) • Help set up tents, tables, signage, and activity stations • Assist vendors or staff with unloading equipment • Replenish supplies and support teams throughout the event • Take down and pack up materials after the event ends • May include moderate lifting or physical tasks ABOUT THE EVENT In its 40th year, RBC Race for the Kids is a fun, family-friendly event that brings together thousands of people each year to raise funds for BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. Every dollar raised helps support world-leading research, specialized care, and innovative programs that improve the health of kids across BC and the Yukon. Whether you walk, run, donate, or volunteer — you’re helping create a brighter, healthier future for children in our province.
