About BCBH:
The BC Bereavement Helpline (BCBH) is a small but dedicated non-profit that provides free grief support services across British Columbia. We serve individuals grieving all types of loss, including those impacted by suicide, homicide, substance use, and pet loss. Our mission is to ensure no one in BC has to grieve alone. We do this by offering compassionate listening, grief support groups, education, and resources.

Role Overview:
We are seeking a Volunteer Grant Writer & Fundraising Support to strengthen BCBH’s capacity through sustainable funding. This role will focus on identifying, researching, and applying for grants, while also supporting broader fundraising initiatives such as donor outreach and campaign development. Your work will directly impact our ability to continue offering free, grief-specific support across BC.

Time Commitment:
Approx. 5–10 hours/month

Primary Responsibilities:
-Research and identify grant and funding opportunities (government, foundations, corporate giving, community foundations)
-Draft, edit, and submit grant proposals and supporting documents in coordination with the BCBH team
-Track submission deadlines and maintain organized records of applications and funding outcomes
-Support BCBH fundraising campaigns and donor outreach (letters, appeals, event sponsorship requests, etc.)
-Provide updates to the team on grant and fundraising progress

Skills & Qualifications:

-Strong writing, editing, and research skills
-Experience in grant writing, fundraising, non-profit development, or academic writing preferred
Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
Interest in grief support, mental health, or non-profit work
Comfortable using Outlook, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Canva and online research tools
