Food Program Volunteers for Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House

POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

Volunteers are needed for our Food Programs at Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House (MPNH) to support seniors and other community members in the Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood. Food volunteers come into the Neighbourhood House to prepare, package, and serve meals to community members, as well as help set up tables and chairs for meal service.

DELIVERABLES/DUTIES: 

The Meals volunteer will:
- Travel to MPNH (800 East Broadway)
- Be available in the day time (between 9am-2pm)
- Experience in food preparation, packaging and service is an asset
- FoodSafe training is an asset
- Cook meals, package meals for delivery, serve meals to community members
- Join Better Impact - a volunteer management software

QUALIFICATIONS: 

All new MPNH volunteers must complete:
- Volunteer Application Form and Policy signing forms on Better Impact
- Volunteer Interview and Orientation
- Criminal Record Check

To volunteer within the Meals program, this volunteer must:
- Be physically capable of lifting grocery bags and boxes of produce
- Have a reliable way to transport themselves to and from the Neighbourhood House
- Possess intermediate English skills
- Attend an orientation and training session 
- Enjoy cooking and dishwashing in a social environment
- Any restaurant or kitchen experience is an asset

ABOUT MOUNT PLEASANT NEIGHBOURHOOD HOUSE:

Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House plays a leadership role in building a healthy and engaged neighbourhood by connecting people and strengthening their capacity to create change. Our House is located at 800 East Broadway, at Prince Albert. The Seniors Outreach Strategy Program (SOS) began as a response to COVID-19 and continues to support seniors in the Mount Pleasant Community.
