English Conversation Club Facilitator for Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House

Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House offers various English Conversation Classes supporting newcomers and immigrants with conversational English.
We are currently looking for 1-2 volunteers interested in leading our weekly 1.5 hour Seniors English Conversation Classes. 

The goal of this class is for participants to practice listening, writing, and speaking in a semiformal learning environment. Almost all the participants are beginners (CLB 1). In addition to class time, volunteers should also have adequate time to prepare the class lesson each week. We are looking for at least one volunteer who has taught introductory English previously. Successful volunteers will have the ability to work with participants with poor vision and/or hearing, and an ability to provide age and lifestyle appropriate topics.

Volunteers must be available Thursdays from 1-2:30 the last two weeks of November or the first week of December for shadowing and training.

•     Weekly sessions with a 6 months commitment required, beginning training in mid-November.
•     Facilitate group of approximately 15 seniors.

Qualifications:
•     Experience teaching English considered an asset
•     Native English speaker or fluency in English
