About the role: The Community Support Program at Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House provides one-on-one support to seniors by connecting them with social services and government benefits. Volunteers work directly with seniors, either by phone or through in-person appointments, to help them access essential services. Support may include assistance with form completion, healthcare referrals, liaising with other organizations to help resolve issues, and referrals to transportation and meal programs, etc. This role requires a compassionate, patient, and nonjudgmental approach. Time Commitment: Training: Thursdays, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM; Regular Shifts: Thursdays, 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM Volunteer Requirements: Comfort with research and problem-solving Ability to work on a laptop using Word and Excel Willingness to make phone calls and in-person appointments Strong communication and interpersonal skills Training and ongoing support are provided.
