Afro Van Connect Society

Afro Van Connect Society is a Non-Profit Organization dedicated to empowering people of African Descent through conversation, collaboration, creation & performance. We accomplish this by establishing gatherings of vibrant creative minds committed to cultivating authentic solutions, to increase the visibility of underrepresented diaspora communities. We offer a creative capital platform where shared opportunities and resources are designed to support the development of liberating education and community sustainability. We are dedicated to building a platform that celebrates our community and its collective accomplishments.
Afro Van Connect Society was founded on the unceded territory of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations in 2019, as an arts and cultural collective dedicated to empowering African Descent people and Youth. We are a collective of African descent artists, activists, cultural curators, and designers working to promote, create, and protect Black spaces. Our work includes a range of activities from facilitating engagements in urban and historical neighborhoods throughout the lower mainland, to producing multi-disciplinary programs, gatherings, summits, and symposiums.
