English Teacher
Our English class is designed for beginners who want to improve their everyday communication skills in a supportive and friendly environment. The focus is on practical language use—speaking, listening, reading, and writing—to help participants feel more confident in daily interactions, whether at the grocery store, a doctor’s visit, or chatting with a neighbour. Everyone is welcome, and no previous experience is required. Plan and deliver beginner-level English lessons focused on practical communication skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) Create a welcoming, patient, and inclusive environment that encourages learners of diverse backgrounds Adapt lessons to meet the varying needs and learning styles of participants Encourage student participation through interactive activities, real-life conversations, and role-playing Assist learners in building confidence using English in everyday situations Monitor student progress and adjust teaching approaches as needed Prepare and bring any needed teaching materials (handouts, visuals, worksheets, etc.) Take attendance and share brief class summaries or concerns with the program manager Communicate with the program manager regarding class needs or challenges Maintain respect for confidentiality and cultural sensitivity at all times Arrive on time and commit to the agreed-upon volunteer schedule
