About the Walk of Hope The Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope is the largest and most powerful event of its kind in the country, and OCC’s largest annual fundraising event. It is the only walk in Canada to direct all attention and funds to improving outcomes and transforming the lives of people living with and at risk of ovarian cancer. Held annually during Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in September, this family-friendly event has raised over $34 million, funding innovative Canadian research, crucial support resources, and advocacy efforts that are changing the ovarian cancer landscape across the country. Together, we can change the face of this disease for good. Responsibilities • Duties may include assisting with: o Set-up and tear-down, o Greeting and registration of participants, o Route Marshalling, cheering section, runner o and other duties as needed. • Support the overall event experience, ensuring that every Walk of Hope participant has a safe, enjoyable, and memorable Walk. • Must be available to attend the Walk of Hope in person at your location on Walk Day. You bring these essential talents • Communication Skills: o Communicate clearly and politely with event attendees, other volunteers, and organizers. • Customer Service: o Friendly and helpful, welcoming participants, answering questions, and creating a positive experience for everyone at the event. • Adaptability: o Events can be unpredictable, able to handle changes or unexpected challenges smoothly and without stress. • Time Management: o Punctual, follow a schedule, and manage time effectively to ensure tasks are completed on time. • Teamwork: o Working well with others is crucial, and able to coordinate with teammates to ensure everything runs smoothly.
