Adoption Coordinator
Ongoing
This position does require that the candidate is committed to being a JRTRO team member, working as part of the team, keeping us informed about any illnesses or absences and must be committed to ensuring the adoption process is followed through. Support is always available if you have questions or problems. Primary overall responsibility is to be the main liaison with adopters and fosters throughout the adoption process Makes the initial contact with the applicant and would monitor the process until complete (which may mean following up on pictures and vet references), assigning a volunteer to interview (following up if necessary) and sending the completed file (which Jill would compile) to the dog's foster and ensuring a meet and greet has been arranged so Jill can prepare and send out the adoption package. Do follow up with the foster parent to confirm that the dog went home after the meet and greet and follow up if the signed agreement and/or adoption fee has not been received in a timely manner. Another important aspect is decision making. When multiple applications come in for a specific dog, determining (with Jill and foster team, if applicable) which is the "winning" application. This would mean that other applicants would have to be emailed and told they were not chosen to move forward (keeping in mind that they still may be good applicants for another dog). This position also requires the task of informing unsuccessful candidates that their applications were not approved. As for time commitment, it all depends on the number of dogs in foster. When there are 40 and multiple adoptions in progress, it is often hectic. When there are 10 or so (appropriate for a small rescue), it can be managed without expending too many hours. Will be required to interview candidates and do adoption follow ups on occasion.
