The Canadian Institute of Medicine and Scientific Research (CIMSR) is a nonprofit organization committed to advancing ethical medical practice, high-impact scientific research, and evidence-based health innovation for the benefit of patients, communities, and the broader public in Canada.

We are inviting Canadian-citizen physicians, medical researchers, and executive leaders to serve as Volunteer Members of the Board of Directors, contributing their expertise to the governance and strategic leadership of the Institute.

 Role Overview

Board Members are entrusted with fiduciary, strategic, and ethical oversight, ensuring that CIMSR operates in accordance with Canadian legal requirements, best practices in nonprofit governance, and the highest standards of medical and scientific standards.

This is a non-remunerated volunteer position, intended for professionals seeking to contribute at a national level to the future of medicine and scientific research in Canada.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide strategic direction and governance oversight aligned with CIMSR’s mission
* Uphold ethical standards in medical research, clinical innovation, and institutional policy
* Contribute subject-matter expertise to board deliberations and committees
* Support long-term institutional planning, sustainability, and accountability
* Serve as an ambassador for CIMSR within professional, academic, and healthcare networks

### Ideal Candidates

We are seeking **Canadian citizens** with senior-level experience in one or more of the following areas:

**Physicians**

* Licensed MDs or specialists with clinical leadership experience
* Experience in academic medicine, hospital governance, or healthcare systems
* Interest in research ethics, innovation, or policy development

**Researchers**

* Established investigators in biomedical, clinical, public health, or translational research
* Experience with peer-reviewed research, grants, or research administration
* Familiarity with Canadian research standards, ethics boards, or funding agencies

**Executive Leaders**

* Senior executives with experience in healthcare organizations, research institutes, nonprofits, or regulated sectors
* Expertise in governance, finance, law, compliance, or institutional strategy
* Experience serving on boards or advisory councils is an asset

### Required Qualifications

* Canadian citizenship
* Demonstrated professional integrity and ethical judgment
* Strategic thinking and collaborative leadership
* Willingness to commit time and expertise consistently

### Time Commitment

* Approximately **4–6 board meetings annually**
* Committee participation or advisory contributions as required
