We’re growing our presence in Sault Ste. Marie, and we’re looking for caring, enthusiastic volunteers who want to make a difference in their community. As a Program & Event Volunteer, you’ll help bring these experiences to life!

What will you do?

As a Program & Event Volunteer, you’ll help create welcoming and inclusive experiences for autistic individuals and their families. Depending on the program or event, you may:

Welcome and connect with participants and families, helping everyone feel comfortable and included.

Bring programs to life by helping with activities, games, crafts, and other engaging experiences.

Support event setup and take-down, including preparing materials, arranging spaces, and keeping things organized.

Be a friendly, helpful presence by answering questions, offering assistance, and helping participants navigate activities.

Build community connections by helping create positive experiences where families can meet, participate, and feel they belong.

Every program is different, and you’ll work alongside Autism Ontario staff to help make each experience meaningful, welcoming, and accessible.

Who are we looking for?

You don’t need to be an autism expert or have previous volunteer experience to get started. We’re looking for people who are:

Friendly, welcoming, and community-minded.

Patient, respectful, and inclusive of different needs and ways of communicating.

Dependable and willing to pitch in where needed.

Comfortable working with people of different ages and backgrounds.

Excited to learn, connect with others, and make a positive difference.
