Global Exposure Opportunity - Virtual Grant Writer Volunteer

This is an amazing opportunity to be part of the grant writing team at the Africa Sixth Region Global (A6RG), headquartered in Toronto, Canada. We are looking for two dynamic, organized and detail orientated, highly motivated, experienced, and detail-oriented virtual Grant Writer(s) to support the organization's fundraising and development goals. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of researching, writing, and submitting successful grant proposals for nonprofit,
intergovernmental, government, and international funding opportunities.

 This role requires a self-starter who can work independently, manage multiple deadlines, adapt quickly to changing priorities, and produce high-quality grant materials with limited supervision. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced global environment and understand the mission-driven nature of nonprofit and diaspora-focused organizations. The ideal candidate will have
experience writing grants for nonprofit organizations, government agencies, intergovernmental institutions, foundations, and global development-related funders.
The successful candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to resource mobilization efforts supporting diaspora engagement, international development, economic empowerment, governance, trade, youth development, women’s empowerment, and strategic partnerships across Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, North America, and beyond.

Key duties and responsibilities:

•	Identify and assess grant, sponsorship, partnership, and resource mobilization opportunities that align with the mission, programs, and strategic priorities of Africa Sixth Region Global..
•	Write, edit, and submit strong grant proposals, concept notes, letters of inquiry, funding applications, and supporting documents.
•	Develop clear, persuasive narratives that communicate the organization's mission, goals, programs, outcomes, and global impact.
•	Prepare grant budgets, budget narratives, timelines, work plans, logic models, and monitoring and evaluation summaries in    coordination with leadership and program teams.
•	Manage the full grant application process from opportunity identification to final submission.
•	Track grant deadlines, submission requirements, reporting obligations, and follow-up communications.
•	Maintain organized electronic grant files, templates, funder records, proposal drafts, and supporting documentation.
•	Work independently with minimal supervision while meeting tight deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards.
•	Collaborate virtually with leadership, program staff, consultants, and partners across different time zones.
•	Adapt quickly to changing priorities, urgent funding opportunities, and evolving organizational needs.
•	Ensure all grant applications comply with funder guidelines, eligibility requirements, formatting standards, and submission instructions.
•	Support the development of grant calendars, funding pipelines, and long-term resource mobilization strategies.
•	Assist with grant reporting, funder correspondence, and renewal applications as needed.
•	Support the development of resource mobilization strategies, donor engagement plans, and partnership proposals that strengthen the long-term sustainability of the organization.
•	Collaborate with commission leaders and program teams to gather program data, impact metrics, success stories, and supporting evidence required for competitive funding applications.
•	Monitor emerging funding trends, policy priorities, and international development opportunities related to Africa, the African Diaspora, youth development, women’s empowerment, economic development, governance, and social innovation.

Skills and Abilities:
•	Minimum three (3) years’ work experience in global settings (preferably in a not-for-profit, intergovernmental, and public sector setting)
•	Strong written and verbal communication skills in at least two African Union and United Nations Languages (English and French)
•	Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, persuasive, and funder-focused proposals.
•	Knowledge of nonprofit grant writing standards, including proposal narratives, needs statements, goals and objectives, outcomes, budgets, and evaluation plans.
•	Ability to write for diverse funders, including nonprofit, intergovernmental, government, philanthropic, and international development entities.
•	Strong organizational and project management skills.
•	Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and work under pressure.
•	High attention to detail, accuracy, grammar, formatting, and compliance requirements.
•	Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, PDF tools, online grant portals, databases, and virtual collaboration platforms.
•	Ability to work independently and take initiative without constant supervision.
