Looking to spend time in the sun, engage with your community, and support local businesses? The farmers market is calling your name! The Surrey Urban Farmers Market is a grassroots, non-profit, volunteer run organization in Whalley that helps support and give a platform to local farmers, artists, musicians and food producers. It is held on Saturdays from 10am-3pm at Royal Kwantlen Park, 13035 104 Ave,  from June 7th to October 4th. 
We are kicking off this market season with an EcoFest event, in partnership with the City of Surrey’s Environmental Extravaganza! It’s going to be a fun-filled day with hands-on learning experiences, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, fresh food and good vibes! We will be joined by Parks Canada, B.C. Wildlife Federation, Surrey Libraries and more.

We are looking for community-minded volunteers to help us with running the market so we can have a great 2025 season! We are looking for volunteers to help with the set up and take down of the market, running the kids booth and Power of Produce club, and helping out at the Info Booth. Volunteer tasks include:

Market Set Up/Take Down
Unloading tents and tables from a storage container and using a dolly to take them to their assigned locations
Setting up the musician tent, kids zone, info booth and lounge areas
Assisting vendors with tent/table set up if needed
Controlling traffic as vendors unload/pack their cars
Signing in vendors in the morning as they arrive 
Taking down market-owned tents and tables
Taking down plastic road signs

Kids Booth/Power of Produce Club
Leading educational activities and games related to food literacy, the environment, sustainability etc.
Using craft supplies such as a button maker, chalk
Positive and friendly engagement with children 
Opportunities to create fun projects, crafts, workshops etc 
*Volunteers interested in running the Kids Booth must be willing to obtain a Criminal Record Check, market will provide volunteer letter for fee waiver 

Info Booth
Helping market goers with any questions they may have
Assisting vendors/musicians if needed
Walking around and engaging with people at the market 
Making popcorn in a popcorn machine

The market has a great environment and is a lot of fun to be at, we welcome anyone who’s interested to apply! Whether you’re interested in learning about protecting wildlife, growing your own food, caring for the soil, or anything in between – there’s something for everyone at the Surrey Urban Farmers Market!
