Join the dance and experience the heartbeat of the drum at the Lead by Example Powwow; a cross-cultural, community celebration and full contest powwow in honour of Kakato'si Kristian Ayoungman.

Powwow is a celebration of life where many nations and tribes join to share songs and dances. Powwows welcome all people and highlight the enduring strength of Indigenous culture.

The powwow will be held at the Strathmore & District AG Grounds from June 7th-9th, with 4-hour shifts scheduled in Morning, Afternoon, and Evening.

 •Registration Table Volunteer | Lead by Example Powwow | June 7-9, 2024

Volunteers will set up registration table, check-in vendors, VIPS, etc. and will provide guidance to where dancers are supposed to register (C&T Tabulation table) 


 •Entertainment Stage Volunteer | Lead by Example Powwow | June 7-9, 2024

Entertainment Stage volunteers will help crews with what they need to set up.


 •Merchandise Booth Volunteer | Lead by Example Powwow | June 7-9, 2024

There will be t-shirts, hats, and other merchandise for sale during the powwow and the volunteers will oversee running the booth. Responsibilities include setting up booth, taking orders, ensuring customers receive correct orders, processing payments, keeping inventory stocked, etc. Customer service experience required.


 •VIP Assistance | Lead by Example Powwow | June 7-9, 2024

Volunteers will greet VIP guests, bring them to their seats, and answer any questions they have. Volunteers will also be of assistance to get coffee/snacks/etc. Lunch and dinner will be brought directly to the guests and volunteers will assist them as needed.

Volunteers will ensure the continuous flow of patrons to prevent backups. Volunteers will also ensure line-ups and crowds are not restricting main walkways, entrances, services, emergency exits, etc. They will also be responsible for assisting guests in finding their way around the facility.

 •Guest Services Volunteer | Lead by Example Powwow | June 7-9, 2024

Guest services volunteers will staff the information desk and be the main source of general information for guests. Volunteers will be responsible for answering questions, directing inquiries, concerns, and managing volunteer check in/out, etc.

As a Princess Pageant volunteer, you'll be an invaluable asset to the smooth running of the pageant, assisting the Princess Pageant Lead and ensuring a memorable experience for all participants. Your role encompasses a range of responsibilities aimed at supporting the contestants, judges, and event organizers throughout the pageant process.


 •C&T Tabulating Volunteer | Lead by Example Powwow | June 7-9, 2024

C&T Tabulating Volunteer will help the Tabulators at the powwow.

- Ensure area is clear for number taking before grand entries as C&T or Arena Directors for each grand entry

- Also for getting tabulations to & from Head Judge to C&T


 •50/50 Sales Volunteer | Lead by Example Powwow | June 7-9, 2024

As a 50/50 volunteer, your primary responsibility is to facilitate the sale of 50/50 raffle tickets and assist with the management of the fundraising process. Your duties may include:
- Ticket sales
- Cash handling
- Ticket distribution
- Record-keeping
- Customer Service
Additional Details & Skills Required
Volunteers will be required to attend one training session prior to the powwow where they will be briefed on roles, guidelines, and powwow etiquette.
