Why this matters At Turning Points Counselling Services, a steady voice and an organized inbox can change the feel of an entire day. When a neighbour calls in fear or confusion, you will be the person who answers with warmth, gathers what’s needed, and opens the door to free, trauma-informed support. Your kindness turns panic into a plan; your accuracy helps counsellors focus on healing work; your follow-through keeps our grants funded so no one is turned away. Areas you may be assisting in (with training and clear checklists): Answer client phone calls with compassion; complete non-clinical intake calls (contact details, brief needs, urgency cues) and book in Jane EMR. Keep care moving: confirmations, reminders, file prep, tidy documentation, and data hygiene across Microsoft Office & Google Workspace. Help secure funding: assist with grant writing and reporting—pull simple stats, format tables, polish narratives, and track deadlines. Light QuickBooks support: export reports, match receipts/files, organize attachments for grant reports (no bookkeeping decisions). Support reception tasks (forms, scanning/printing) and occasional outreach/admin projects. How we’ll support you You’ll get a thoughtful orientation to privacy, trauma-aware client welcome, Jane scheduling & templates, and simple QuickBooks data pulls—plus checklists that make each step clear. We value boundaries, clarity, and dignity for clients and volunteers. Time & place 3–5 hrs/week, one academic term minimum. On-site in Stony Plain/Spruce Grove; some hybrid tasks (grants/reporting/data entry) are possible. Volunteer/unpaid; housing not provided. Who you are A calm communicator with excellent boundaries; organized, accurate, and kind. Comfortable with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, ready to learn Jane and basic QuickBooks exports. You believe that small, careful actions—one call, one chart, one table—create safety, dignity, and hope.
