STAR Literacy Program

#107-80 McKenney Ave St. Albert and Sturgeon County AB T8N 2G4

STAR Literacy is under the umbrella of St. Albert & District Further Education Association. It runs an Adult Literacy Program and an English Language Program. These programs match volunteer tutors with adult students who wish to improve their reading, writing, numeracy or English language skills.

Did you know....one in four adults in Alberta need help with reading and writing? We are part of 84 Literacy Associations (councils) province wide. We are proud to share that we currently have over 60 students and volunteers. STAR Literacy offers FREE, FLEXIBLE, One-on-One tutoring to adults over 18 years of age as well as personalized learning plans. Our tutors need to meet a Grade 12 education requirement (or equivalent), be 18 years of age or older, be proficient and confident in English (and Math for numeracy needs) and provide a Criminal Record Check (free of charge) We support a weekly English Language Conversation Circle with two tutors, in partnership with the St. Albert Public Library and is funded by the St. Albert Community Foundation and the St. Albert Rotary Club.
