Laundry & Donations Helper

Volunteers supporting Laundry & Donations are essential to the daily operations at Squamish Helping Hands. As we head into the colder months, this role becomes especially important. By helping in the laundry room, you ensure that community members accessing our emergency shelter programs have a warm, clean bed ready at check-in. Fresh bedding and clothing help create a safe and welcoming space for everyone.

This role also involves sorting and washing donated items so that warm, dry clothes, & towels are available. Your time and care in the laundry room make a meaningful difference, providing comfort, dignity, and support to those we serve.

Key Tasks:

Greet participants in the laundromat and create a welcoming space

Show users how to operate washers and dryers

Perform light cleaning and maintenance of machines

Move emergency shelter bedding through washers and dryers

Distribute coins to laundromat users

Sort and organize donations, keeping shelves tidy

Volunteering in our laundry program offers flexibility, you can join on a weekly, bi-weekly, or casual basis. Shifts are available in the mornings and afternoons, typically from 9–11am or 4–6pm, but we’re happy to be flexible with timing.
