Media Relations Manager

4-10 hours / weekly
initial six-month commitment preferred
Help conservation stories reach a wider audience.

The Canadian Conservation Photographers Collective (CCPC) is a nonprofit collective of photographers and storytellers working to promote conservation and science education through compelling visual content. Founded in 2021, CCPC brings together people with diverse skills and backgrounds to shed light on pressing environmental issues and inspire action for the natural world.

As a volunteer **Media Relations Manager**, you’ll help connect CCPC’s stories, campaigns, and members’ visual work with journalists, editors, and media outlets. Your work will help raise the Collective’s public profile and strengthen how its conservation messages are shared.

You will:

• Build and maintain relationships with media professionals covering conservation, science, and photography.
• Identify and pitch relevant CCPC stories, campaigns, projects, and members’ work.
• Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and statements for campaigns, exhibitions, and organizational news.
• Respond to media inquiries and coordinate interviews with CCPC spokespeople and members.
• Prepare key messages, talking points, and background materials for interviews.
• Maintain media contacts, track coverage, and share results with the team.
• Document media relations processes and messaging guidelines to support consistency and smooth transitions.
• Collaborate with the Executive Director and Collective Council to ensure communications reflect CCPC’s goals, mission, and values.

CCPC’s campaigns—including **Last Hope**, **Crossing Paths**, **Vanishing**, and **Keep Them Wild**—use photography, research, and storytelling to draw attention to conservation issues. This is an opportunity to use your communications expertise in support of meaningful, mission-driven work and help bring these stories to more people.

We’re looking for someone with education and professional experience in media relations, public relations, journalism, or communications. You’ll bring excellent writing and editing skills, sound judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and confidence engaging with media professionals. Comfort with tools such as Google Workspace and Slack is helpful. Existing contacts in environmental, science, or photography journalism are an asset, as is previous nonprofit or volunteer experience.

If you care about conservation and believe powerful visual storytelling can help people connect with the natural world, we’d love to hear from you.
