Job Description: Member of the Board of Directors (Fund Development) - Arts and Culture Council of Strathcona County

The Arts and Culture Council of Strathcona County is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our Board of Directors as a member responsible for fund development. This position plays a crucial role in supporting and advancing the arts and culture sector in our community.

Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement a strategic plan for fund development in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
2. Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, sponsors, and funding organizations to secure financial support for the Council's initiatives and programs.
3. Research and identify grant opportunities, prepare grant proposals, and manage the grant application process.
4. Develop and manage fundraising campaigns and events to engage the community and raise funds for the Council's programs and projects.
5. Collaborate with the Board of Directors to create compelling fundraising materials, including brochures, newsletters, and online campaigns.
6. Build and maintain relationships with existing donors and sponsors, ensuring regular communication and stewardship.
7. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising strategies, making adjustments as necessary to meet fundraising goals.
8. Stay updated on current trends and best practices in fund development and share knowledge with the Board and staff.
9. Attend Board meetings, committee meetings, and Council events as required, actively participating in discussions and decision-making processes.
10. Uphold the Council's mission, vision, and values, and act as an ambassador for the organization within the community.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
1. Previous experience in fund development, preferably within the arts and culture sector or a nonprofit organization.
2. Demonstrated success in securing funding through grants, sponsorships, and individual donations.
3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
4. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
5. Knowledge of fundraising principles and best practices, including donor cultivation, stewardship, and recognition.
6. Familiarity with fundraising software and databases for donor management and reporting.
7. Passion for the arts and culture sector and a commitment to supporting its growth and accessibility in the community.
8. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute effectively to Board discussions and decision-making.
9. Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and evolving organization.
10. Knowledge of the local community and its arts and culture landscape is an asset.
